New Scheme of Studies Translation of the Holy Quran

Notification of the New Scheme of Studies Translation of the Holy Quran has been issued by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board on 28-07-2022. Further detail of said notification in same is as under;

Kindly refer to the letter No. 104-CE/P dated 25.07.2022 received from Controller of Examinations, BISE, Lahore/PBCC on the subject captioned above (Copy enclosed).

In order to implement “The Punjab Compulsory Teaching of the Holy Quran Act, 2018” amended in 2021, the Government of Punjab has introduced the subject of “Translation of the Holy Quran” at Secondary and Higher Secondary Levels. The Curriculum of the said subject is available on the PCTB’s Website (https://mis.pctb.punjab.gov.pk/home/get_subjects/curriculums/49). The detail of requisite information is as under:

New Scheme of Studies

The “BOARD” after detailed discussion and deliberations approved the following:

  1. The subject of “Ethics” will be taught to Non-Muslim students for Grades I-XII in lieu of “Naazrah Quran for Grades I-V” and “Translation of the Holy Quran for Grades VI-XII.”
  2. The subject of “Ethics for Grades I-XII” based on National Curriculum-2006 will be taught to non-Muslim students in lieu of “Islamiyat for Grades I-XII” for the Academic Session 2022-23, if its Model Textbooks are not received from NCC, MoFE&PT.
  3. The NCC, MoFE&PT be again requested at the earliest for the provision of model Textbooks of “Religious Education” comprising different religions i.e. Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, Bahaism, Kslasha, Buddhism, & Zoroastrianism for Non-Muslim Students.
  4. The Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) being a competent forum be requested to take a decision to double the marks of “Ethics” for the subject of “Translation of the Holy Quran for Grades IX-XII.”
