In a significant update for Pakistani expatriates, particularly those residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has released its latest fee structure for the Smart National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) as of January 2024.
The NICOP remains a vital identification document for Pakistanis living abroad, essential for a variety of civic and legal activities. It is especially beneficial for those with dual citizenship, offering the convenience of visa-free travel to Pakistan.
NADRA, the authority responsible for the management, documentation, and issuance of NICOP, has streamlined the process, making it easily accessible for all Pakistani citizens overseas. For those living in the UAE and other countries, acquiring a new Smart NICOP involves a visit to any NADRA center. In addition, residents in the UAE have the convenience of using the Pak ID app for renewing their NICOP, eliminating the need for a physical visit to the centers.
The fee structure for Smart NICOP varies based on geographical regions, with specific rates applicable for Zone B, which includes the UAE. The new fee schedule for obtaining or renewing a Smart NICOP in this zone is structured to cater to the unique needs of the Pakistani diaspora in the region.
This development marks an important step by NADRA in ensuring that overseas Pakistanis are provided with efficient and convenient services, further enhancing their connection to Pakistan and facilitating their participation in the country’s development from abroad.
