A notification of Winter Holidays 2022-23 has been issued by Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department on 24-12-2022. Winter vacation for summer zone and winter zone, the Department announced early keeping in view the bad weather conditions.The weather conditions are severe and dangerous in KPK.

I view of the abrupt and unusual change in the weather condition, this department notification of even number dated 23-12-2022 regarding winter vacation may be read as under;

| Winter vacations in Summer Zone in KPK | 25th December 2022 | 1st January 2023 |
| Winter Vacations in Winter Zone in KPK | 25th December 2022 | 15th February 2023 |
According to the Shahram Khan Tarakai Minister;
“Due to the forecast of unusual cold waves and sudden change in weather, it has been decided that schools in the summer zone will remain closed from tomorrow 25th Dec to Sunday 1st Jan 2023. While schools in the winter zone will remain closed from tomorrow Dec 25 to Feb 15, 2023.”
The said Notification includes the following Districts:-
- Upper Chitral
- Lower Chitral
- Dir Upper
- Batagram
- Shangla
- Swat
- Mansehra
- Orakzai
- Kurrum upper
- North & South Waziristan
