The education department in Punjab province has declared that starting February 1, 2024, all schools will return to their regular schedules, concluding the winter session that officially ends on January 31.
In adherence to government regulations, both public and private schools will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Fridays until January 31.
This decision follows modifications made by the interim Punjab government on January 8 to the winter schedule for all state-run and private schools, aiming to address specific seasonal challenges.
From February 1 onwards, schools will resume their regular operating hours, as per the official advisory issued by the education department on January 2, 2024.
The directive specifically instructs the heads and principals of public and private schools, as well as all Chief Executive Officers (DEA) in Punjab, to ensure strict adherence to the provided instructions.
Notably, the recent three-day period has seen a significant decrease in cold temperatures, resulting in reduced fog in Lahore, a city plagued by smog.
This positive development has extended to other cities, including Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Narowal, where dense fog previously impeded travel during nighttime and early morning hours.
The improved visibility is expected to ease commuting challenges that arose due to adverse weather conditions.
