The caretaker federal government announced on Thursday an increase in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel. According to a notification from the Finance Division, the price of petrol will rise by Rs. 2.73 per liter to Rs. 275.62 per liter, while high-speed diesel will see an increase of Rs. 8.37 per liter to Rs. 287.3 per liter. These new prices will take effect from February 16.
The latest adjustment in fuel prices comes after the last fortnightly review, during which the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel were also raised. At that time, petrol’s price was increased by Rs. 13.55 per liter to Rs. 272.89 per liter, and high-speed diesel’s price went up by Rs. 2.75 per liter to Rs. 278.96 per liter.

Additionally, the federal cabinet approved a 67 percent increase in gas prices for residential users, following an earlier increase of over 1100 percent in gas prices under the caretaker setup.
