Lahore: In a groundbreaking announcement, Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, unveiled a mobile app for all educational boards in the province and directed the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to make the mobile application functional for all educational boards within a week. During his visit to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, the Chief Minister inaugurated the e-services/mobile app.
All educational boards will now be connected through a single mobile app, allowing students to access desired services by selecting their respective board. Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, personally initiated the mobile app using a laptop, demonstrating the functionality of the BISe mobile application.
Naqvi, actively tracking the application, verified online fee payments, degree and result card authentication, NOC, and migration certificate processes through the app. He also reviewed the procedure for degree copy transfer and verification through the app. The Punjab government, under Chief Minister Naqvi, appreciated the functionality of the BISE mobile app for degree verification in government offices.
Speaking to the media after the launch, Chief Minister Naqvi expressed concern over the sudden visit to the board’s office 15 days ago, witnessing the distress of students. Following a meeting with the Provincial Minister of Education and Secretary Higher Education Department (HED Punjab), a decision was made to address the students’ concerns. Naqvi regretted the delay in making board services available online, stating it should have happened five to six years ago. All educational boards’ services will be online in a few days.
Degree verification, NOC, migration certificates, and other documents can now be applied for online and received through courier services. Students can also pay fees online from the comfort of their homes. The Higher Education Department Punjab and the School Education Department, Government of Punjab, are crucial departments where reforms are urgently needed. Despite working in each department, the limited time available hinders the Education Department from doing as much as is needed in Punjab.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed confidence that someone will come forward to work for the improvement of the education sector. Providing quality education and healthcare facilities is crucial, and when these are in place, people’s needs are adequately addressed. The aim is to ensure that people willingly choose government schools for their children. While efforts have been made to improve some schools, the number of such schools is still insufficient among thousands. The implementation of the BISe mobile app showcases the excellent work done by the entire team, with special recognition for the PITB’s diligent efforts. The responsibility for delays in the appointments of vice-chancellors, principals, and chairpersons of boards does not lie solely with us. The PITB deserves our pride and appreciation.
