Government Slashes Petrol Prices by Rs. 8

Im a recent announcement, the caretaker federal government has implemented a modest reduction in the price of petrol, maintaining the current cost of high-speed diesel.

Effective immediately, the price of petrol sees a noteworthy decrease of Rs. 8 per liter, settling at the new rate of Rs. 259.34. Conversely, the price of high-speed diesel remains steady at Rs. 276.21 per liter.

During the previous fortnightly review of petroleum prices, the government had opted to maintain the status quo for both petrol and high-speed diesel prices. Notably, fluctuations in the country’s petroleum prices are heavily influenced by global oil prices and exchange rates. However, a substantial factor contributing to the present pricing structure is the petroleum development levy.

Presently, the government imposes a levy of Rs. 60 on each liter of both petrol and high-speed diesel.

Please note that these adjustments reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to manage fuel costs in response to various economic factors.
