According to the information provided, more than 5,000 candidates who submitted their nomination papers did not get registered with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The sources say that the FBR is currently conducting a security process for those who submitted nomination papers as per the Election Commission’s instructions. It has been revealed that out of 28,626 candidates who submitted nomination papers, more than 5,000 candidates have been excluded from the FBR system. However, more than 23,000 candidates have NTN (National Tax Number), but it has also come to light that many candidates have non-filer status.
According to the sources, the FBR has decided to issue notices to the non-registered and non-filer candidates to bring them into the tax net. The FBR will share data with the field offices regarding this decision. This situation appears to be a significant development in the context of the upcoming general elections.
