The Punjab Cabinet has approved the provision of interest-free electric bikes to ten thousand students through an easy installment plan.

According to a statement by the Caretaker Provincial Minister of Transport, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, seven thousand electric bikes will be allocated to male students, while three thousand will be provided to female students.

This scheme aims to benefit students in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rawalpindi.

The decision, made during the 40th session of the provincial cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, marks a significant step towards addressing environmental concerns and promoting gender equality.

The initiative will be facilitated by the Bank of Punjab, offering favorable terms to the beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Naqvi commended the efforts of the police, administration, and law enforcement agencies in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the general elections held on February 8.

He also congratulated the chief secretary, IG police, and others for their successful oversight of the elections, highlighting the transparent and free voting procedures that allowed citizens to elect their representatives in a calm atmosphere.

Chief Minister Naqvi expressed gratitude for the achievements of the caretaker government and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing immediate relief to the populace.

In addition to the e-bike initiative, the cabinet approved the formation of an appellate committee for the Punjab Charity Commission and allocated funds for the establishment of business facilitation centers.

This decision not only addresses the pressing issue of smog but also promotes sustainable transportation options and empowers female students, contributing to a more inclusive and environmentally conscious society.

The caretaker Punjab government’s dedication to addressing environmental and social challenges demonstrates a commitment to holistic progress.
